Baby deer rescued due to close cooperation between ranger and farmers

Baby deer rescued due to close cooperation between ranger and farmers

In the Loonse en Drunense Duinen nature reserve in the Netherlands, mowing in the breeding season is not without risks. In the high grass you may find nests with eggs, young hares, young birds and fawns (baby deer).

To avoid them being killed by the mower, Natuurmonumenten works very closely together with farmers. Once the farmers want to mow their land, they let Natuurmonumenten know. Then a ranger comes by to check the pastures with his trained dog. Recently this cooperation between Natuurmonumenten and a farmer in the Loonse en Drunense Duinen nature reserve saved a baby deer.

The photo shows a volunteer of Legambiente, the Italian LandLife partner organisation, reading from the book in the park, Bosco delle Querce, Seveso.
