Short CV

Neil McIntosh is ECNC’s Deputy Executive Director and is responsible for Strategy and Innovation. Neil moved to the Netherlands to work for Eurosite in 2005, transferring from Scottish Natural Heritage, where he was part of a team leading the development of project and partnership working approaches. Neil has been involved in many Natura 2000 programmes and projects and has led the development of numerous networking events, including those in multi-stakeholder environments. He is Project Manager, supporting the European Commission and leading the implementation of the Natura 2000 Biogeographical Process. Over the years, he has worked in business, education, health and environment sectors, gaining a portfolio of experience increasingly important to realise integration of nature priorities in wider society. A common theme and primary interest in his career is to support the development of people and organisations. Specific areas of interest and expertise include partnership working, project and programme development, and strategic planning. For the last 7 years, Neil has actively participated in the European Habitats Forum and, since 2010, in the EC’s Expert Group on Natura 2000 Management. Neil is a graduate of Edinburgh University and has an MA, which was awarded with merit: he is a member of the Institute of Leadership & Management, a PRINCE2 Project Management practitioner, and is qualified as a trainer and assessor of learning and development programmes.
