LANDLIFE and LIFE+ Programme have contributed to the legalization of land stewardship in Catalonia

Since 9th February 2017, land stewardship contract -or agreement- is a new civil law contract in Catalonia.

LANDLIFE and LIFE+ Programme have contributed to this achievement in order to support landowners that want to protect their private land’s natural heritage.

This last 6th book completes the Catalan civil law and specifically regulates sale contracts, contracts with financing agreement, termination by injury, and the exchange, land stewardship contracts, urban planning special figures, including the transfer of land or land use change for future construction.

This sixth book of the law shall come into force from 1st January 2018.

Advantages are many. First, the strengthening of land stewardship agreements or contracts, but also because law is wide enough to include different and special types of land stewardship, such as agreements affecting public river side water.
