Land stewardship network -xct organises the first landowner gathering - 16th November 2013, Lluçà (Catalonia)

With the theme "Green economy and conservation, an option for the future," the gathering aims to present the potential and opportunities land stewardship offers to manage private lands.

The event will be a unique meeting point to share experiences and encourage dialogue between landowners who have already signed a land stewardship agreement and those who want to know more precisely the benefits and opportunities land stewardship offers for their land.

The gathering will take place at La Font, where since 2007 the owner of the property, Pere Garet, and the Centre for Mediterranean Rivers - Museum Ter are implementing a green economy project that combines ecotourism, conservation of the natural values of the streams, rivers and wetlands of the property and sustainable and ecological management of the farm.

During the event, landowners who have signed land stewardship agreements will explain their experience and some thematic discussion and information tables will be arranged with the aim to share experiences and identify synergies.

The LandLife project will also be present as an initiative that works to increase the involvement of stakeholders in nature conservation through land stewardship. The different tools developed by the project, such as the helpdesk, the European Manual or the Land Stewardship toolkit for the support of development of new land stewardship agreements or improve the existing ones, will be explained.

After the thematic table, a field trip to La Font will be organised. The gathering will finish with a free dinner and a land stewardship products market.
